A new and unexpected side to Laphroaig. For this series, our distillery team gives free rein to their imagination, creating the opportunity for some of our most fascinating notes to emerge. Explore the different elements that make our whisky unique as we take our signature profile into new territories. Elements 1.0 is the first in our new series, crafted through a 55-hour fermentation overseen by our Distillery Manager, using two varieties of barley malted and kilned in early autumn and nurtured by our expert team of mash men. The result is a bold, non-chill filtered, cask-strength Laphroaig revealing fruitier, sweeter notes behind our peaty, smoky style. Three key aspects amplify the flavour profile of the liquid in this first release. First, a combination of cloudy and semi-cloudy wort that layers in more tropical fruit notes without compromising on our peaty punch. Second a change in the size of the mash tun. In this case a combination of 8.5 and 11 tonne mash in a mix of styles from both today and the past. Lastly, Elements 1.0 is a100% Islay malt that captures more of the maritime elements within the phenolics of the peat.
